Use a Plunger

The first step to getting rid of a slow drain is to try a plunger. A plunger should be your tool of choice for DIY repair attempts. It works by creating suction that can loosen the clog and push it through the system. A tappet is perfect for cleaning sink drains.

Start by removing excess water from the sink or tub. Then remove the drain cover. Now place the plunger cup over the drain and press down firmly to create a seal. Pump vigorously several times before lifting quickly. Do this for about a minute. This should be enough to clear the clogs.

Vinegar and Baking Soda

If the plunger isn't enough, you can try a homemade solution of vinegar and dry baking soda. This is a safe and natural way to unclog drains. First, pour one-third to one cup of baking soda down the drain and let it run down as far as possible. Also pour the same amount of vinegar. The mixture will bubble and foam as it clears the clog.

Allow the solution to sit for 10-15 minutes before running hot water (not necessarily boiling water) down the drain. This should help clear any remaining clogs and debris. If it doesn't work the first time, repeat the process several times until all the particles are gone.

Strands of Hair

Hair particles are one of the most common causes of clogs. In this case, the best way to clear your drain is to remove the clumps of tangled hair. This can be done in several ways. The most popular option is to bend a wire hanger (or similar device) into a hook. Insert the hook into the drain and gently remove any clumps of hair that have accumulated along the way.

You must be careful when using a wire hanger as it can scratch and damage the pipe. If you're not comfortable with that, try using a drain snake or plumber's auger instead. This is a special tool specifically designed to safely clean hooves.

Clean the P-trap

If you don't know what a P-trap is, it's a curved section of pipe that sits just below the sink. This is where most clogs occur in bathroom and kitchen sinks. The P-siphon is the connection between the sink drain and the wall. It contains water that prevents sewage gases from entering the house. Particles such as hair, dirt, jewelry and grease can get stuck in the P-trap and cause blockages.

To clean it, wear gloves and start removing the P-trap yourself. Now turn off the water to the affected sink and place a bucket under the area to catch any water or debris that may be released during this process. Two sliding nuts connect the siphon to the wall and sink drain. Unclip them and carefully remove them. Clean the area of any dirt or debris, then reassemble the parts and turn the water supply back on.

Boiling Water

This is the easiest and most convenient way to clear a clogged drain. However, this does not work for all types of constipation. Boiling water is ideal for removing grease, soap scum and food residue. To do this, drain excess water from the sink. Next, boil a large pot or kettle of water and slowly pour it down the drain. Let the hot water sit in the sink or tub for a few minutes before running cold water. Repeat this several times. The heat should be enough to dissolve any dirt, grease, or soap residue that may be causing the clog.

You can alternately pour only boiling water and boiling water with 1/3 cup dishwashing liquid. The detergent will help break down the grease, grease, and oil that builds up in the pipes. For very hard hooves, you may need to use this method several times while diving before you see results.

With these simple tips, you can quickly clean a slow drain and be enjoying your personal hot tub in no time. Have fun!
